Irina Hortin, Düsseldorf, geb. in Rumänien. Studium zeitgenössischer Tanz, Linguistik und Literatur in Deutschland, Frankreich, Argentinien, Senegal und weltweit im Nomadic College bei Frey Faust. Sie tanzte u.a. für Anna Konietzky, Carolin Keller, Andreas Abele.  Seit 2013 arbeitet sie konstant als Choreographin für das Schalktheater (Zürich). In Düsseldorf leitet sie ein Tanztheaterprojekt mit Flüchtlingen und unterrichtet Deutsch für Einwanderer.

Aktuelle Produktionen als Tänzerin und Choreographin in Zusammenarbeit mit Gabriele Koch sind Chrysalis (Wuppertal 2015) und into the woods (Wuppertal 2015). Sie unterrichtet fest und auf Festivals zeitgenössischen Tanz, Contactimprovisation, ContactTango (zuletzt bei den Festivals ContactTango in Wuppertal 2016 und Tango Differente in Ponderosa 2015) und Yoga.

 

about: Irina studied contemporary dance, linguistics and literature and since 2002 works as a freelance dancer, choreographer and teacher. She is also certified Iyengaryogateacher. Born in Rumania, she grew up in Germany, lived and learned in France, Argentina, Senegal and Switzerland. Since 2014 she is based in Düsseldorf with her 6-year-old daughter. Last productions in artistic collaboration with Gabriele Koch (Wuppertal) were the site-specific forest performances Chrysalis and into the woods.

She is vividly interested in how the human body communicates beyond language and how the impact of nonverbal communication is reflected in other bodies – whether we are dancing or just being – and what it is that moves us. The Axis Syllabus, a movement lexicon reflecting human locomotion principles deeply inspires her dancing and teaching. Irina is in the certification process for an Axis Syllabus Teacher and member of the ASIRC (axis syllabus international research community.
